2020 Featured Guest Spotlight: TC Trek Trivia

For the past three years, The TC Trek Trivia crew has produced Wibbly Wobbly Wednesdays, the ONLY pub trivia in the state dedicated exclusively to Doctor Who! Every fourth Wednesday of the month, Whovians from all over the Twin Cities converge on the Driftwood Char Bar for a night of food, fun, and a whole lot of WHO. Every edition is all ages, has no cover, and there are prizes for the first- and last- place team/player.

The next edition of Wibbly Wobbly Wednesdays is TOMORROW at 7PM at Driftwood Char Bar! You can learn more about it in their event on Facebook.

The Sevateem Joins Us in 2019

We’re excited to announce that THE SEVATEEM will be joining us as Featured Guests at CONsole Room 2019!

The Sevateem are an indie electronic group made up of otherwise-boring married couple Christian Erickson and Janey Winterbauer. Christian grew up a hardcore Doctor Who nerd and was a member of M.U.M. – a Twin Cities fan group that made Doctor Who spoof videos for cable access in the 80s. Janey, on the other hand, grew up in the theater doing much cooler things at CTC and other venues. The two met playing in electronic pop band Astronaut Wife at the turn of the millennium. Since the breakup of that band in the mid-2000s, Janey has become a ubiquitous voice in local music, lending her pipes to bands like The New Standards and The Twilight Hours. She was also a vocalist/cast member on MPR’s radio variety show “Wits” and is currently busy as backup singer for Twin Cities’ punk/pop legends The Suburbs.

The two – with the help many talented local musicians – recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of Christian’s by releasing “The Caves” – a concept album based entirely on the classic Who episode “The Caves of Androzani” which has drawn rave reviews from fans and media.

The Sevateem will be talking about their music and process at our convention, and we are THRILLED to be bringing them to CONsole Room this year!

Costuming, Meet SlytherPuff

Costumers and Harry Potter fans alike, have we got an event or two for you!

CONsole Room 2018 will have TWO costuming competition opportunities – a Hall Costume Contest on Friday and a Costume Showcase on Saturday. Further details on how to compete in both are on our COSTUMING COMPETITIONS page.

Our judges for this year’s Costume Showcase are non other than the VICTORIAN LADY DOCTOR COSTUMING GROUP! The Victorian Lady Doctors are a group of persons who like to sew Doctor Who themed costumes and cosplays, local to the Twin Cities. They’ve also hosted the popular Sunday Tea at CONvergence.

We are also thrilled to announce that SLYTHERPUFF will be performing for our Costume Showcase halftime show! SlytherPuff is a local comedy Wizard Rock Duo who perform original and cover songs about their favorite fandoms, including Harry Potter, Marvel, Mad Max, and more! Maren brings the Slyther, and Morgan brings the Puff!
