These are some of our favorite convention recipes, but please use your best judgement to modify based on your own needs or equipment, and always stay safe! Please note that all videos are releasing on Friday and will be uploaded when available.

Grilled Cheese

Grilled cheese sandwiches are a quick, easy staple in CONsole Room’s ConSuite. In this video (launching Friday), the head of CONsoleRoom’s ConSuite shows you how to prepare a grilled cheese sandwich like the ones you’ve come to know and enjoy during CONsole Room, along with a fancier version of grilled cheese, in the comfort of your home.

GRILLED CHEESE

INGREDIENTS:

  • White or split-top wheat bread
  • Margarine spread
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni slices

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat pan to medium heat
  2. Spread margarine on one side of each slice of bread
  3. Put two slices of bread butter-side down on preheated pan
  4. Put shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese on bread
  5. Add pepperoni slices as desired
  6. Let cook undisturbed until cheese is melted and bread starts to brown
  7. Flip one slice of bread onto the other slice so the cheese is in the middle of the sandwich
  8. Cook each side until browned and crunchy
  9. Once done remove from pan, let sit for a minute, then slice sandwich and enjoy!
Pizza Favorites

Pizza – always good, and made fresh throughout the weekend at CONsole Room. Grab a slice with the head of CONsole Room’s ConSuite as he shows you how to prepare pizza like the ones you’ve come to know and enjoy during CONsole Room.

CONSUITE PIZZA

INGREDIENTS:

  • Pre-made pizza crust
  • Pizza or marinara sauce
  • Shredded Cheddar cheese
  • Shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni slices

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to temperature on crust instructions
  2. Remove pre made crust from packaging
  3. Spread sauce on crust
  4. Spread shredded cheddar cheese in even layer on sauce
  5. Spread mozzarellacheese in even layer
  6. Place pepperoni slices on top of cheese in an even layer
  7. Place pizza in oven and bake for recommended time per crust instructions or until done
  8. Remove from oven, let sit for 5 minutes, then slice and enjoy!

FANCY PIZZA

INGREDIENTS:

  • Pizza dough (prepared in advance)
  • Flour for rolling out dough
  • Canned stewed tomatoes
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Pepperoni slices
  • Cornmeal (for the pizza stone)
  • Pizza stone (recommended but not required)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Prepare pizza dough of choice in advance.
  2. Preheat oven and pizza stone to 450° F.  Recommended: Preheat the pizza stone for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Open the can of stewed tomatoes, drain the majority of the liquid, and then pour into a food processor and pulse until mostly smooth.
  4. On clean, flat surface sprinkle flour. Using a rolling pin, roll out pizza dough.
  5. Take preheated pizza stone out of the oven and sprinkle cornmeal on it. Place pizza dough on pizza stone.
  6. Using a fork, poke lots of holes in the pizza dough to prevent bubbles during cooking.
  7. Place dough and pizza stone in oven and bake for 3 minutes using the center oven rack.
  8. Remove dough and pizza stone from oven.
  9. Spread pizza sauce on the dough using a spoon.
  10. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses in even layers on top of sauce.
  11. Raise the oven rack from the center rack several notches to sit below the top burners (if using a conventional oven).
  12. Place pizza and pizza stone on upper rack and cook for 5 to 6 minutes or until done.
  13. Remove pizza and pizza stone from oven. Remove pizza from pizza stone and place on cutting board. If continuing to bake pizzas, carefully brush off cornmeal and place pizza stone back in oven.
  14. Let pizzas sit for several minutes, then slice and enjoy!

PIZZA DOUGH (BREAD MAKER RECIPE)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup water, room temperature
  • 3/4 teaspoon honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 2/3 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon whole wheat flour (*May use all bread flour instead of bread/wheat flour mix)
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons yeast, active dry, instant or bread machine

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Place ingredients, in order listed, in the bread pan fitted with the kneading paddle and secure pan in bread maker.
  2. Press the menu button to select the Dough program.
  3. Press Start/Stop to mix, knead, and rise. For best mixing results, scrape the pan 10 to 15 minutes after the program has started.
  4. When cycle is complete, remove dough and follow your favorite pizza recipe.
Specialty Pizzas

Grab a slice with the head of CONsole Room’s ConSuite as he shows you how to prepare some truly unique pizzas inspired by Doctor Who and our convention.
The first pizza is a fish fingers and custard pizza inspired by the iconic dish craved by the 11th Doctor, followed by a sweet-and-savory dessert pizza using ingredients we normally have on hand during CONsole Room. We hope you find these unique pizzas inspiring and appetizing!

FISH FINGERS & CUSTARD PIZZA

INGREDIENTS (CUSTARD SAUCE):

  • 2 cups milk (whole recommended but 2% worked)
  • 2 1/2 ounces shredded cheddar , grated (about 1 cup)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/8 tsp paprika
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp salt

INGREDIENTS (PIZZA):

  • Pizza dough (prepared in advance)
  • Flour for rolling out dough
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fish Fingers (AKA fish sticks, but fried fish filets also work)
  • Cornmeal (for the pizza stone)
  • Pizza stone (recommended but not required)

INSTRUCTIONS (CUSTARD SAUCE):

  1. Preheat the oven to 300F.
  2. Fill a large casserole (like a lasagna pan) halfway with water and place in oven.
  3. Pour the milk into a saucepan. Add the thyme to the milk.  Heat the milk over medium-high until one or two bubbles break the service. Reduce heat to low, add the shredded cheese, and stir until melted. Remove from heat.
  4. Break the eggs into a medium bowl, add the rest of the spices, and beat lightly. Stir in a few tablespoons of the hot milk to temper the eggs so that they do not scramble. Add the rest of the milk mixture and combine well.
  5. Pour milk mixture into ramekins.
  6. Carefully place the ramekins into the casserole dish.
  7. Place them in hot oven and bake for about 30 minutes. They'll still be jiggly but will set as they cool.

INSTRUCTIONS (FISH FINGERS):

  1. For crispy fish fingers, place several fish fingers into preheated air fryer and cook for 6 minutes at 400° F turning halfway through.
  2. Remove cooked fish fingers from fryer and cut into even chunks.

INSTRUCTIONS (PIZZA):

  1. Prepare pizza dough in advance
  2. Preheat oven and pizza stone to 450° F. I recommend pre heating the pizza stone for at least a 1/2 hour
  3. On clean flat surface sprinkle flour. Using a rolling pin roll out pizza dough
  4. Take a preheated pizza stone out of the oven and sprinkle cornmeal on it. Place pizza dough on pizza stone.
  5. Place dough and pizza stone in oven and bake for 3 minutes using the center oven rack
  6. Remove dough and pizza stone from oven
  7. For the sauce take one of the ramekins of custard and using a spoon scoop out the custard and spread evenly on the dough
  8. Spread the fish finger chunks evenly on top of the sauce
  9. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses and even layers top of sauce and fish
  10. Raise the oven rack from the center rack several notches to sit below the top burners (if using a conventional oven)
  11. Place pizza and pizza stone on upper rack and cook for 5 to 6 minutes or until done
  12. Remove pizza and pizza stone from oven, remove pizza from pizza stone and place onto cutting board. If continuing to bake pizzas carefully brush off cornmeal and place pizza stone back in oven
  13. Let pizza sit for several minutes, then slice and enjoy!

CONSUITE DESSERT PIZZA

INGREDIENTS:

  • Pre-made pizza crust
  • Nutella hazelnut spread
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips
  • Goldfish crackers

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to temperature on crust instructions
  2. Remove pre made crust from packaging
  3. Bake crust for about 5 minutes or half of recommended baking time
  4. Spread Nutella on crust evenly
  5. Evenly spread marshmallows on Nutella
  6. Evenly sprinkle chocolate chips
  7. Evenly sprinkle goldfish crackers
  8. Place pizza onto center rack of preheated oven and bake for about 5 minutes or until marshmallows start to brown
  9. Remove pizza from oven, let sit for a few minutes, then slice and enjoy!
